How to buy an Indochino suit without avoidable mistakes.

Step 1

Set the right expectation

Indochino is made-to-measure, not traditional bespoke tailoring. You choose a fabric and styling options, and your measurements are used to adjust a production pattern. The first garment may still need alterations. You gain control over the suit’s style and fit, but the terms checked in August made made-to-measure orders final sale. Read the applicable terms before ordering.

Step 2

Compare the real tier and checkout price

The suit examples checked on August 20, 2026 were $499 for Studio, about $799 for Premium and $999 for Luxury. These are examples from that date, not fixed prices for every suit in a tier. Studio and other categories can be excluded from general promotions, so check the exact suit’s eligibility and final checkout price.

Judge the fabric, not the screen

One lesson from the original 2010–2011 guide still holds: color and texture on a screen are not enough to judge cloth. Inspect the current fabric in a showroom when practical, or ask whether a current swatch is available. Confirm the fiber composition and product tier for the exact fabric rather than relying on an old collection name.

Step 3

Use a showroom for the first measurement when practical

A showroom gives you a second person to assess posture, proportions and fit preference. Self-measurement can work too; neither route guarantees a perfect first fit. Wear the shirt and shoes you plan to use, explain whether you want a close or relaxed fit, and avoid copying another customer’s measurement “hack.”

• Stand naturally; do not pose to change the measurement.
• Repeat each measurement and resolve unexplained differences before ordering.
• Explain sleeve, trouser break and jacket-length preferences.
• Ask what construction is used for the exact product tier.
• Save the order details and measurement profile.

Step 4

Keep a first suit versatile

Customization is most useful when it improves proportion and function. For a first business suit, a navy or charcoal fabric, moderate lapel, two-button front and restrained lining are easier to wear than trend-led details. A distinctive option is not automatically a valuable one.

Step 5

Inspect immediately after delivery

Keep the swing tags attached while you assess fit and construction. Photograph the front, side and back in good light. The support terms checked on August 20, 2026 required fit or construction concerns to be raised within 14 days of receipt. Confirm the applicable deadline and do not leave the box unopened until the event week.

• Button the jacket and check collar contact, shoulder shape, balance and pulling.
• Sit, walk and raise your arms; a still front-view photograph cannot show mobility.
• Check sleeve and trouser length with the shirt and shoes you intend to wear.
• Inspect seams, buttons, lining, pattern alignment and any transit damage.

Step 6

Treat alterations as part of the process

The terms checked on August 20, 2026 included one complimentary alteration round. Eligible online orders could use a local tailor within reimbursement caps: USD/CAD $75 for a two-piece suit and $100 for a three-piece suit, with separate garment limits. Confirm eligibility and the applicable caps before work begins, and keep every receipt.

Ask the tailor for a written assessment before work begins: which changes are straightforward, which would alter the garment’s balance, and what each change will cost. A useful tailor should diagnose the fit rather than simply shorten whatever you first point to.

If the garment cannot be altered, contact Customer Experience with the requested photos. Under the terms checked in August, the company assessed the resolution and made-to-measure purchases remained final sale. Fit assistance was not an unconditional return guarantee.

Step 7

Update the profile before ordering again

Record exactly what the showroom or local tailor changed. A successful second order depends on correcting the saved profile, not simply assuming the first alterations will be remembered automatically.
